I'm not taking any new projects for the foreseeable future. I'm too busy directing engineering at Riskalyze, building Mac stuff for Droplr, and not working at Google. Eat your heart out, Sergey! Say whaa-aat?

Hi. Levi here.

I’ve been programming for a long time--freelancing for about 5 years. I’ve worked on projects for Apple, Ancestry.com, Sony/BMG, EMI Records, AOL but not Google (Sergey! If you’re reading this let’s chat, okay). I've worked with other people too--they were very nice and I enjoyed working with them. I digress.

I built my first website in 2000 and I still build them. (Here’s where I would list stuff like “CSS3!”, “HTML5!”, “JQuery!”, but honestly who doesn’t use that stuff these days. Did you think I would list “Tables!”,“Blink Tags”, “Hypertext!”? I’m almost tempted to put that here but I would probably be the only one who gets the joke. Then if Sergey Brin did read this he would be like, “This guy still uses tables for non-tabular content?! What?” And I would have to be like, “Sergey, I was being ironic, okay. Android Sux! Ohhh snap!”)

So how do I feel about programming? Am I one of those guys who heatedly debates retaining variables in getters and setters, dreams about stack traces, and describes himself as “passionate about programming” or “a code rockstar”? Geeze, that's kind of a personal question but no. I hugely respect people like that but that's not who I am. I'm more interested in Jesus, my wife & kids, design, comics, drawing, reading, and music. The quicker I can finish programming and get to those things, the better. I value simplicity over complexity. So, Sergey, if we end up working together, that means I'm going to be looking for simple solutions that require little maintanance. Something like adding a new button to Google.com is right up my alley. Or how about we just delete "I'm feeling lucky"? Seriously, that stopped being cute like 5 years ago. (Gosh, I just can't resist criticizing you. Why am I am I so negative?)

Lately I’ve been programming stuff for IOS and Mac OS X. I really enjoy it. I love art and working in Apple software feels a bit like working on art. (The one time I built something in .NET, evil spirits killed a kitten. And it didn't feel like art.) I enjoy Mac/IOS programming so much that if you want me to build a website I’ll probably sigh and shake my head 'no' with a sad smile. (I might say yes though, it depends on the site. Right?) So if you have an IOS or Mac project and you need an amazing coder with youthful good looks, a twinkle in his eye, and a breathy voice--don’t call me--I’d start by checking in with Justin Beiber. See if he knows anything about XCode. But if you don’t mind someone who lost his youthful good looks while still in his youth, squints, and has an average masculine voice and enjoys programming Cocoa, then maybe we should talk. (Except for you, Sergey. The more I think about it, the more I’m sure that it’s just not going to happen with me and Google. Sorry, I hope you don’t feel like I was leading you on.)
